The Best Rock, Punk & Metal Shows in Vancouver – December 2017

Finish the year strong by going to some of these killer shows.

As ever, a disclaimer that music is subjective blah blah blah. This is my list, and these are the shows I’m excited about this month.

December 1

Corner Boys – SBC Restaurant

Corner Boys are one of my favourite bands in Vancouver right now. Check out their gritty, 70s-inflected power pop at SBC, along with Jiffy Marker, Wait List (a brand new band with veterans of the local scene) and Alex Little & the Suspicious Minds.

Frogpile + The Jins – Stylus Records

Two great indie-rock bands sharing the bill at this show. Should be a raucous, beer and sweat-soaked night.

December 4

Pixies – Queen Elizabeth Theatre

The hugely influential Pixies are coming to Vancouver. Perhaps not one for everyone, but a big tick off the bucket list for many.

December 8

METZ – The Cobalt

Ontario punk rockers METZ play at the Cobalt with Moaning.

December 10

Hygiene – Black Lab

For my money, Hygiene is one of the most exciting bands in Vancouver right now, seemingly getting better every time they play. This show is a fundraiser for Tiny House Warriors. Shrouded Amps, Fake Fruit and Birdo are also on the bill.

December 22

BISON – The Cobalt

What better way to get in the Christmas spirit than with the doom-laden riffs of Vancouver’s very own BISON? Support is ably provided by Erosion and Woolworm.
