The rains have set in, and it looks like we’re only in for more of it as October wears on. Cheer yourself up by attending these shows — a certain cure for autumn blues.
As ever, a disclaimer that music is subjective blah blah blah. This is my list, and these are the shows I’m excited about this month.
Agent Orange – SBC
Right off the bat, October is looking good, thanks to this show from the Californian surf-punk legends.
The Menzingers – The Rickshaw Theatre
Melodic punk-rockers The Menzingers are touring to promote their latest album with its themes of growing up — but that won’t stop them from rocking as hard as ever when they hit the Rickshaw.
Sam Coffey & The Iron Lungs – The Rickshaw Theatre
Bringing equal parts glam and grit, this power-pop show is sure to be a lot of fun. Word on the street is there will be costumes involved.
October 13 & 14
Severefest – SBC
Formerly known as Severfest, the name-change may be a mystery but that doesn’t change the fact that this thing will be rocking. Check out La Chinga, Anchoress, Astrakhan, BORT and more over two days at SBC.
Mastodon w/ Eagles of Death Metal – The Orpheum Theatre
This is a hell of a bill. Although musically different, both of these bands share the true rock and roll spirit.
