NEW RELEASE: Low Levels – Lost In The Trance

Release date: March 14, 2017

Lost In The Trance, Low Levels’ second EP, is brimming with spit-in-your-face attitude. It’s hard to definitely place Low Levels on a musical spectrum that spans punk rock, post-punk and power pop, but to be honest, it doesn’t really matter — I’m more focused on enjoying the simmering rage of Al Boyle’s guitar, Emily Jane’s bass and Byron Slack’s drum, as well as the vocals of all three.

While Low Levels may have only been around for a couple of years, its members are veterans of the Vancouver scene (having been in Hard Feelings, Shitty Neighbors, NEEDS, Devil Eyes, Learners and Invasives, between them). That experience is evident on this very tight record.

The eponymous track starts things off with slow menace, and the tempo builds over the three tracks until we finish with the frenetic ‘Gym Strip.’ That progression provides for a very intense (and also enjoyable) listening experience. This snarling EP will definitely be sticking around on my playlist.

See Low Levels perform at The Astoria on June 9 with HEDKS and Corner Boys.
